Alejandra Sierra Toro

Professional in Law and Politic Science, with an advanced degree in Insurance law. She has practiced in the areas of underwriting and claims for different commercial, industrial and financial companies.  She has been responsible for the management of complex contractual and non-contractual liability claims, including Professional Liability (E&O), Directors and Managers and General Liability Insurance. She has also served as an adjuster for art and collectibles claims.

In 1995, she began her technical career at Suramericana de Seguros in the Property Insurance area. In 2006, she joined Marsh McLennan where she developed technical and administrative functions and started in the area of General Claims.  In 2009, she joined the HELM group through its Insurance Broker HELM INSURANCE, as an Assistant Manager and later as National Claims Manager, a position in which she was responsible for the Insurance Legal advice for the financial group, in addition to leading the operational management in the technical handling of claims and to meet the requirements of the Control and Judicial entities.

In 2010, she assumed the position of National Director of Claims at AXA COLPATRIA, leading the claims operation for all of Colombia.  Under her direction was the attention and review of legal claims, management reports to the Commercial, Financial and Technical Vice Presidencies.  She was appointed by the Commercial and Technical Vice-Presidency as a member of the team in charge of analyzing the underwriting of business with Facultative Reinsurance. She had delegation for the analysis and administration of catastrophic claims during the flooding events of more than USD 10 million that occurred during 2011 in Colombia.

In 2012 she settled in the United States working as an Independent Professional offering Technical and Legal Advice in Insurance and in the Preparation of Liability and Financial Lines Claims.

In 2017 she began to participate as an Independent Adjuster for Grupo ABACO Colombia, providing adjustment services to several countries in the Americas.

She is currently linked to the ABACO USA office as a General Adjuster.
